Video Game Wiki

I found a great video game wiki called Wiki4Games. This wiki is a free video game wiki that anyone can edit. You have to create an account to do so. There is a ton of information regarding different video games on this wiki. The main page even list the newest pages, the newest files and the most viewed. The site has the same navigation as wikipedia but is geared to just video game information. I think its a great site!

Fallout 3

I just started a new game on the 360 called Fallout 3. This is my kind of game. It has many different gaming elements all in one. It has a bit of a RPG element because you have to discover different areas on a map and complete different quests along the way. Some quests are optional while you have the main quests that have to be completed to go further in the game. There is also a FPS element because you have to kill various enemies along the way. One thing that I enjoy about the came is your character can be customized in many different ways and you can also be good, neutral or bad so the game is never quite the same for each player. I also really like that you can barter in the game for various items. This game gives you no boundaries or limitations and with 5 add on packs, the game can last a long time. I'm looking forward to staying home and playing fallout 3 all weekend!

Finishing Bioshock

Getting Bioshock finished was a lot simpler than I had anticipated. All I needed was Electric Gel, which is used to kill Fontaine, along with all of my other plasmids and grenades. I used the Electro Bolt 3 and the Incinerate 3 a lot. Your grenade launcher will come in handy as well. I will end up playing it in Hard mode along with my daughter, to unlock the last two acheivements.
The fight with Fontaine should take approximately about 10 minutes. Its not a hard fight, except he moves around a lot and you have to really watch for his plasmids. Depending on how many little sisters you harvest or rescue, there is three different endings. There is a good ending, a medium ending, and a bad ending; harvesting the little sisters will result in a "bad" ending.

Red Xbox Elite

A few days ago my oldest daughter received the Red Xbox Elite Resident Evil Edition in the mail. We were all super excited to start playing Resident Evil 5 when we had come to find out....it didn't work. We all gawked at the screen when it read "Unreadable Disc." We took it out, cleaned it and tried it again, still nothing. We downloaded it to the hard drive; it would only get up to about 45% tops and then it would fail. Still it didn't work. We then cleared the cache and still nothing. What were we doing wrong?! We looked up the problem on the internet and apparently, its a very common problem. For about 20% of those people, they could fix their disc by doing one of the above steps. For about 60%, they could get the game to work with one of the above steps, BUT their discs would fail again and they couldn't play after so long; which happened to us. For the last 10% the discs wouldn't work at all. So we figured out that for the 70% who could either barely scrape by with a couple hours of game play or those who couldn't at all, to just call Capcom (they make the Resident Evil games) or the store in which you bought the console from and ask if they would trade out the disks. (Do not trade your xbox because they aren't the ones with the problem. The disk itself has a manufacturing problem.) We called Capcom and Hastings and they both said they would send us another copy of the game, seeing as this happens a lot.
Until we get the Resident Evil 5 game, we have been playing a game called Bioshock. My oldest daughter's boyfriend played it, so we kind of knew what to do. It is by far a fun game with a few parts that make you jump. I am having a lot of fun, especially when you can hack equipment to make it work with you instead of against you, like the little helicopter shooters and cameras. Also be warned, when playing this game you can get an achievment at the end if instead of harvesting the little sisters, you rescue them. Kill the Big Daddys' first before attempting this. Once the Big Daddy's are done its a lot easier to get your hands on the little sisters. I am wanting to eventually play games like Gears of War, Halo, and Call of Duty....but one step at a time I think.

Resident Evil on Professional Mode????

I truly didn't believe my daughters when they said Resident Evil would be harder on Professional mode, but boy was I wrong. I sat down willing to give this game another shot. I thought it would be like normal mode except with more bad guys was all. I couldn't even get past the beginning scenes without dying a couple times. The enemies were A LOT faster and A LOT harder to kill. It was also harder at the fact you have very little ammo this time around so I had to preserve what I could so I didn't run out of it. I plan on working on it more tonight to see how far I can get.

World of Warcraft

I tried out World of Warcraft today, because my youngest daughter insisted on it. I made a Blood Elf hunter. There are a lot of controls in this game! I ran my little character around beating all the level 1-3 things pretty easily. I died twice trying to beat the Arcane guys towards the end of my leveling in the starting area. I couldn't help but panic when they all started to attack me. I guess when their names are red they automatically attack you, not like the yellow named creatures when you first start out. Not really knowing what to do, I ran through and ended up getting everything attacking me. I might stick to the console games. :-)

In the beginning...

I never in a million years thought I would get into video gaming. My daughters are gamers, playing games like World of Warcraft online, Resident Evil 4 on the Wii, Dead Space on the Xbox, even games on the Super Nintendo! The only console I think we don't have is a PS3, but I am pretty sure we will have one eventually. I usually just sit back and watch them run their characters around and kill all the monsters, but one day they said "Hey mom come try this." I was pretty skeptical at first, I'm not the most coordinated when it comes to video games, but I sat down with an open mind and decided to give it a try. I think I died more than anyone else in the world on Resident Evil 4 for the Wii. Trying to kill the chainsaw guy while screaming and attempting to not throw the controller into the tv was definitely proving difficult. I see now why most guys might say girls can't game, because, if they are like me, they can't. With my daughters rolling all over the floor laughing at my inability to beat the chainsaw guy with Leon's shotgun, I finally handed the controller over to my oldest daughter, who beat it the first time around. I really look up to how well they can play, especially with how difficult some of the games can be. One day I will play as well as they do, it just takes practice. On a side note; in Resident Evil 4 for the Wii, you can avoid fighting the chainsaw guy if you just kill everyone in Pueblo Village first, and not enter the house with the cut-scene.
