Red Xbox Elite

A few days ago my oldest daughter received the Red Xbox Elite Resident Evil Edition in the mail. We were all super excited to start playing Resident Evil 5 when we had come to find out....it didn't work. We all gawked at the screen when it read "Unreadable Disc." We took it out, cleaned it and tried it again, still nothing. We downloaded it to the hard drive; it would only get up to about 45% tops and then it would fail. Still it didn't work. We then cleared the cache and still nothing. What were we doing wrong?! We looked up the problem on the internet and apparently, its a very common problem. For about 20% of those people, they could fix their disc by doing one of the above steps. For about 60%, they could get the game to work with one of the above steps, BUT their discs would fail again and they couldn't play after so long; which happened to us. For the last 10% the discs wouldn't work at all. So we figured out that for the 70% who could either barely scrape by with a couple hours of game play or those who couldn't at all, to just call Capcom (they make the Resident Evil games) or the store in which you bought the console from and ask if they would trade out the disks. (Do not trade your xbox because they aren't the ones with the problem. The disk itself has a manufacturing problem.) We called Capcom and Hastings and they both said they would send us another copy of the game, seeing as this happens a lot.
Until we get the Resident Evil 5 game, we have been playing a game called Bioshock. My oldest daughter's boyfriend played it, so we kind of knew what to do. It is by far a fun game with a few parts that make you jump. I am having a lot of fun, especially when you can hack equipment to make it work with you instead of against you, like the little helicopter shooters and cameras. Also be warned, when playing this game you can get an achievment at the end if instead of harvesting the little sisters, you rescue them. Kill the Big Daddys' first before attempting this. Once the Big Daddy's are done its a lot easier to get your hands on the little sisters. I am wanting to eventually play games like Gears of War, Halo, and Call of Duty....but one step at a time I think.

  1. Hello,

I don't know why, but game consoles are extremely poorly made. We've had problems with my boys XBOX elite and Wii.

  2. I have heard a lot about these problems with XBOX 360s, the biggest one being the ring of death. I haven't heard of the actual game being defective though, thats pretty wierd. Luckily, knock on wood, I haven't had any problems with my PS3, but it just seems that they just don't make them like they use to.

  3. There have been a lot of problems with the 360's. I know several people that have 360 Elites and got the red ring of death. Luckily xbox extended the warranty to 3 years. The new ones including the one we got have a Jasper chip which is suppose to be RROD proof but I guess only time will tell.

  4. I have to give it to you.... You are full of knowledge when it comes to videos games but is it sad to say the only video games systems I like are Nintendo 64 and Sega?

  5. It is sad that they knew there were problems with the disc but they haven't done anything about it.
